MARBELLA’S REJUVINATION NOW A REALITY.

IN THE MEDITERRANEAN.

Marbella is buzzing with the planned new development of the old fishing port and harbour called La Bajadilla. An Arab lead consortium of investors, have succeeded in being granted permission to re-develop the old port lying on the East side of Marbella town, with an estimated total budget in excess of 400 million euros.
This is like a dream come true for Marbella, particularly in these times of massive global recession, and it illustrates how investors still have such faith in the potential and future of Marbella and has given all of us who live, and work here, a terrific boost to our morale. The amount of workers employed to construct the new marina, a predicted four-year project, will immediately result in the reduction of our un-employment figures. As a result of this development, the local town hall of Marbella, is already talking about redeveloping the whole of the sea front, thus initiating an exciting opportunity to up grade and re vamp the whole area.
The long held vision of a private port for Marbella town where luxury liners will be moored up against the largest privately owned yachts and where the facilities, already planned for this development, will include every possible amenity, to compliment the type of luxury liners and boats that will then visit our shores. Such as a five star luxury hotel, smaller boutique hotels, the opportunity for every type of restaurant to be opened, fine dining, food from all over the world represented as well as our own tapas and wine bars and such casual dining. Every designer shop will want to move in, and so this will prove to be the catalyst for the type of development we have always dreamt of and we will then rival any of the worlds leading luxury marinas.
This is the start of the growth of Marbella and already we hear rumours that Puerto Banus may be next on the cards for re-development and a face-lift. Rumour circulates that an offer is already in place, but so far, nothing has been announced as to whether permission has been granted. But we all feel sure this will be the next stage of improvements to come to our shores, as Puerto Banus lacks the facilities for deep-water moorings, which are now so essential for luxury liners and the size of berths needed for the enormous private yachts cruising the Mediterranean.
All this most welcome news and the encouragement this has given us, proves that we are still considered an important player in the world’s top list of holiday and living destinations.
